What's the last good fiction or non-fiction book you read?

Any new CD's I should own?

Recommendations, please.

My company just gave me a $100 Amazon certificate and it's burning a hole in my pocket. I'm currently considering:

The Fall of the Roman Empire: A New History of Rome and the Barbarians

Froth & Scum: Truth, Beauty, Goodness, and the Ax Murder in Amreica's First Mass Medium

Random Family: Love, Drugs, Trouble, and Coming of Age in the Bronx

Gilead

Bob Dylan Live 1975 (The Bootleg Series Volume 5)

i just read "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" and loved it. i think i'm only 5 years behind the times on discovering it...but it was a great piece of fiction...and i historically don't enjoy fiction very much. that is all.

Random Family is great -
I can loan you Gilead (we have 4 copies lying around for some odd reason)

I, too, can loan you Gilead, if you want. ... and the Dylan (though I realize that's a whole different thing, commodities and all). I'm not so up on the newest books, but here are a few things I have on my wishlist -- an A.J. Liebling anthology, the new Deborah Eisenberg short stories, Indecision, any Joe Sacco (or David B's Epileptic).

I have far too many books on my shelf that I haven't read yet -- Cloud Atlas is one that came highly recommended.

Sorry this is sort of rambling.

Did you read MONEYBALL? I'm sure you must have. Great book for a researcher.

Music? There is no good music these days. Actually, I like that Postal Service disc a lot, but you must have that already.

Read THE WISDOM OF INSECURITY or THE BOOK: THE TABOO AGAINST KNOWING WHO YOU ARE, both by Alan Watts. Life changing.

Really loved POSITIVELY FIFTH STREET, the poker book, which is doubtless in paper by now.

Oh, also really like the latest Belle & Sebastian, which you must have. And am gonna get the new one from Clem Snide frontman Eef Barzelay. Really like him/them.
